This translucent white tea set reflects the classical elegance of the Song Dynasty, one of the celebrated ages of Chinese ceramics. The emphasis is on simple design, colouring and restraint in decoration, unlike the ornate designs that were to follow later. Its delicacy pays homage to the dynasty’s elegance while the vibrant colour adds a modern edge. A lidded bowl called a gaiwan is used for brewing the tea instead of a teapot. Many tea connoisseurs favour this method for tasting green and white tea. The jug is then used to distribute the tea amongst the eight tiny tea cups.
